Perry occupies the northeastern corner of Lake County where the land rises from the Lake Erie bluffs into the wooded interior that connects to the Grand River corridor. The township includes everything from the Perry Nuclear Power Plant on the lakefront to the vineyards and orchards along South Ridge Road to the forested residential lots south of Route 20. That variety means the tree work changes block to block, and the conditions that affect tree health shift with the terrain.
The northern tier of Perry, closest to the lake, catches the full force of northeast wind events that come off Lake Erie. These are not just summer storms. The fall and winter nor’easters push sustained winds through the tree canopy for hours, and the cumulative effect weakens branch unions and destabilizes root systems over time. Norway spruces, which were planted heavily in Perry during the 1970s and 1980s as windbreaks, are particularly vulnerable because their shallow root systems and dense crowns turn them into sails during high wind. We remove more failed Norway spruces in the Perry and Madison corridor than almost any other species.
South of Route 20, the character of Perry shifts to larger wooded lots with a hardwood mix of red and white oak, tulip poplar, and beech. The Grand River runs along Perry’s eastern boundary, and the ravines and creek drainages that feed into it create steep, wooded terrain where tree access is challenging. Wes has pulled trees off slopes in Perry that a conventional ground crew would have needed a crane for, using rope work and rigging to control every cut from the canopy down. His 14 years as an electrical lineman means he is comfortable at height and around utility infrastructure, which matters in a township where overhead power lines run along nearly every road.
Perry’s agricultural heritage means there are still fence rows and field edges with trees that were never managed. These volunteer tree lines, typically box elder, black locust, and wild cherry, grow fast and become structurally unsound within 20 to 30 years. When they fail, they take out fencing, block access, and fall into yards. Clearing and maintaining these overgrown edges is a common job for us in Perry, and we can selectively remove the junk species while keeping anything worth preserving.
The drive from Chardon to Perry runs about 25 minutes northeast on Route 86 to Route 20. We are in the Perry area frequently for jobs in the surrounding townships as well, so scheduling is efficient. For storm emergencies, we respond based on severity. Trees on structures and blocked access come first. Call (440) 901-0995 anytime.

What Homeowners Say
“I recently hired Wes, of All Trees Considered, to remove several large trees on my property, and I couldn’t be more pleased with their work. From start to finish, they were professional, efficient, and courteous. Cleanup was excellent. When they finished, there was no debris left except what was expected. Communication was top notch. Wes kept me updated, answered my questions, and left me feeling confident in the work. I was not home when he completed the work and he sent me pics to keep me updated on the progress of the job I highly recommend All Trees Considered for your tree removal project!”

“Wes is very professional, and did a great job removing our trees. He responded very quickly to our message, and came out right away to give us a very fair estimate. He clearly explained what he was going to do. Our yard was cleaned up thoroughly after the trees were removed. We highly recommend him and will definitely use him again if needed!”

“I really can’t say enough about Wes & Charlie and All Trees Considered! They did a fantastic job! Great to work with from first meeting until the job was done! They were so nice, very knowledgeable, thoughtful, patient in answering any questions, and accommodating in every way, including fitting us into their schedule and what needed to be done so we could make a deadline. I think it’s amazing that he does the job without a crane! I had initially contacted an Amish company that said they use a crane and I was a little concerned about it, that they would have to go up and over the house with it, because of the size of our backyard,, and attached garage and only a narrow access to the backyard, where the biggest tree was that had 2 huge limbs hanging over the house to remove. There was also another good size tree in front yard to trim up, and various small trees, etc all around the house to be trimmed. Wes put my mind at ease that he does not use a crane and was very thorough in explaining how he would do the rigging, etc. when I came home and saw the rigging and everything all up at the end of the first day, and the work they’d already done, it was very impressive. Ours was a pretty big 2-day job. I really wish I could’ve been home to see him and Charlie in action!! They also always let me know when they would be arriving and when they were done for the day. They cleaned up and hauled everything away when they were done. The transformation of the house and yards after they were done was really amazing! I highly recommend them and will definitely use them again! Thank you again Wes and Charlie! 😊”
