Professional Stump Grinding in Chardon, OH

After a tree is removed, the stump remains — an eyesore, a tripping hazard, and a magnet for pests. All Trees Considered grinds stumps 6-12 inches below grade so you can reclaim that space for lawn, landscaping, or whatever you have planned.

What to Expect from Stump Grinding

Complete Stump Grinding

Every stump is ground 6 to 12 inches below grade — deep enough for grass seed, sod, or new plantings. Most residential stumps are completed in 30 to 60 minutes.

Surface Root Removal

Major surface roots in the grind area are included in every job. No tripping hazards, no mower damage, no roots sending up sucker growth across your lawn.

Multi-Stump Projects

Have several stumps? We price multi-stump projects competitively. The equipment is already on-site, so each additional stump costs less than a standalone visit.

Tight Access Grinding

Stumps near foundations, sidewalks, fences, and other structures require careful equipment positioning. We assess proximity to utilities and hardscape before grinding to avoid any damage.

Why Remove Stumps?

Old stumps attract carpenter ants, termites, and other wood-boring insects. They can send up sucker growth for years. They make mowing difficult and reduce usable yard space. Grinding eliminates all of these problems in under an hour for most stumps.

Pair with Tree Removal

Save time and money by scheduling stump grinding at the same time as tree removal. The equipment is already on-site, and we can take care of everything in one visit.

Reviews

What Customers Say

Real reviews from homeowners who hired All Trees Considered.

“Wes and his team did a good job removing two trees that we had to have taken down. One had grown up against a garage and the other was starting to lean pulling on the roots and a threat to the attached and detached garages. The weather conditions that day were wet ground and bitter cold. Wes had a lift but could only use it for one tree and had to climb the other. Given the challenges and weather they did a good job and left the wood for firewood piled together. I would recommend them.”

FAQ

Stump Grinding Questions

Common questions homeowners ask about stump grinding service.

How deep do you grind stumps?

We grind 6-12 inches below grade, which is deep enough for grass seed, sod, or most plantings. If you need deeper grinding for construction purposes, let us know and we can accommodate.

How long does stump grinding take?

Most residential stumps take 30-60 minutes. Very large stumps or those with extensive surface root systems may take longer. We can give you a time estimate during your free consultation.

What happens to the wood chips?

The grinding process produces wood chips and mulch. We can backfill the hole with the chips (they decompose over time), spread them in garden beds, or haul them away — your choice.

Can you grind a stump near a foundation or sidewalk?

In most cases, yes. Our equipment can work in tight spaces. We will assess proximity to structures and utilities before grinding to avoid any damage.

Will the stump grow back after grinding?

Some species (like maple or willow) may send up sucker shoots from remaining roots. These are easily managed and will weaken over time. The ground stump itself will not regrow.
